Anyone who’s taken even a vague interest in the Lord McAlpine story that wasn’t a story on Newsnight but was a story then wasn’t a story on twitter and then was again because everyone’s going to get sued and probably killed by lawyers with wild dogs* will know that McAlpine’s lawyers were going after 20 high profile people on Twitter. One of them is Sally Bercow who tweeted “Why is Lord McAlpine trending? *innocent face*“. Apparently this means, in the minds of McAlpine’s lawyers that she should give him £50,000. Sally Bercow has decided that it doesn’t mean this and has got her own lawyers.

The lawyers will all strip to the waste and fight to the death in the High Court soon*. This is good, because telling people they can’t say what they want on the internet is bad. The internet is pretty much useless if you can’t say what you want on it. It might be more complicated than that, ask a grown up.

We reckon she’s got a lot of bottle.
