The Biggest Loser in British Politics

We’re on a mission to find the biggest loser in British politics. This person is a Libdem candidate who’s standing in the local elections for the first time.  We just don’t know who they are yet.

Anyone Standing for this mans party is a fuckwit

You might be reading this and thinking “hang on a minute, the BNP and National Front are standing candidates, surely they’re bigger fuckwits than any Libdem”. While we sympathise with your view you’re wrong. Libdems standing now, especially those who are new candidates are worse than any BNP or NF loon.

The BNP or the NF while deluded and vile can still argue that they wouldn’t be an unmitigated disaster for the people of this country, that they would do a good job and make everyone happy. Of course we would argue against them and point out the lunacy and hatred that they’re policies represent.  It would be a “what if” argument though.  The Libdem is different, the Libdem has seen the result of their party getting a sniff of power. They’ve seen the cuts, the closures and the job loses and they know their party is complicit.  They can’t hide behind ignorance.

You might think that we should target a Libdem veteran, a candidate or incumbent who’s been a yellow rosette wearing feature of local politics for years. We think new blood is worse.  Don’t get us wrong, we hate them all, and we do mean hate.  A new candidate has seen Clegg join the Tories in power, seen the assault on the working class of this country over the last 12 months and still they’ve put their name forward as a Libdem candidate, they’ve joined in afterwards.

We’re not even sure how many exist yet, there can’t be too many. At least one didn’t even know he was a candidate until he read his name in the local paper.

When we’ve identified our deluded Libdem candidate, we’re going to go to their count and give them a t-shirt with their face on it and “the biggest loser in British Politics” .

We admit we’re going to look a bit silly if they win, but we’re sure that’s not going to happen, in the Wednesbury North election in November the Libdem candidate got less votes than the National Front.

We need your help. Do you know of a first time Libdem candidate? Do they have a twitter account? We want to be part of their political experience.

Post their name and any links below and we’ll say hi.

Thanks to Pengesoviet we’ve got our first two nominations.

Tony Axlrerod, a first timer standing in the Epsom and Ewell council election. You can read his Libdem drivel about helping local residents (yeah right) here http://bit.ly/gqYihb

Lisa Harding a candidate for Knaphill in Woking. Her about me page is http://lisaharding.mycouncillor.org.uk/about-me/ and she’s done a twee little blog post for Libdem voice where she mentions people need thicker skins, she’s my favourite now. http://www.libdemvoice.org/opinion-a-day-in-the-life-of-a-first-time-candidate-23825.html

    There’s 3 in Gloucester

    http://www.wiltsglosstandard.co.uk/news/cotswolds/8946338.Lib_Dem_young_candidates_hope_to__freshen_up__politics/?ref=rss

Joe Harris, 18, is one of the youngest council candidates in the UK. Sean Davey and Anna Lewis, both running for Fairford and Quenington, are little more than a year older.

    Joe’s got a facebook page http://www.facebook.com/joeforpark

We’ve told him he’s in the running although as he probably wasn’t old enough to vote in the general election he probably won’t win.

If you want to hang around with this kind of poisonous political hatred I’m going to nominate myself in protest.

Check out my campaign twitter on @firth4firgrove or my digital rights campaign on @jamesfirth (I’m also the editor of slightlyrightofcentre.com)

Oh yes, I’ve also written for the Lib Dem Voice in support of the coalition. Sure you’ll find that too. And I’ve written for the Guardian too, speaking out about getting the balance right when pursuing alleged file sharers using underhand tactics:
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/libertycentral/2010/oct/02/acs-law-leak-data-security

If you want to give me a T-shirt for making a stand, my count will be at The Edge leisure centre in Haslemere. See you there folks.

IN SOLIDARITY WITH ALL THE ABOVE

    James Firth

Lib Dem candidate for Waverley Borough Council, Farnham Firgrove ward

Are you a first time candidate James?

    Chris Mills nominated himself

    http://chrismills.me.uk/

IâEUR(TM)m a Lib Dem Activist living in Petersfield with my Fiancée Helen and my cat Millie.
I work in Portsmouth as a GIS Technician for a utility, and IâEUR(TM)m a bit of a gadget freak ;)
I love going walking, and am privileged to live in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.
All content and thoughts here are mine and do not represent the official views of the Liberal Democrats

His about me page doesn’t exactly paint a picture of a dynamic principled force in local politics. I’m sure the people of Petersfield are as likely to elect Chris as they are his cat Millie.

Andrew Emerson get upset when he was told on twitter that he can’t nominate himself because he’s not a candidate.

Andrew Emerson: do i count as i would like to stand an unnamed time in the future possibly? Wanna try harass me trotscum?
Sabcat: I’m affraid not , you’re of no interest, we’re no trots btw

Andrew Emerson: Trust me, you anywhere near any of my friends, i’ll make sure you are dealt with by the full force of the law.
Sabcat: Really? Are you the the director of the DPP or a dipshit with an internet connection? Wind your neck in soft lad

Andrew Emerson: No. But I understand that you are a threatening political candidates..That is taken very seriously.
Sabcat: You understand what? Are you illiterate as well as pointless?

He finished with “Hmm, I shan’t waste any more time arguing with a trot, but I shall be keeping an eye on you and your blog.”

So we turned him around and we got ourselves a new reader. Great!

Some Libdems have taken to tweeting with the #tag #ProudLDFirstTimer. I say some, I mean three.

Two are already mentioned here, the third is Stephen Mullen from Preston. Stephen has a blog http://sdmullen.co.uk/ The header is pictures of him, in one he’s holding up an “I agree with Nick” sign which is sure to win him lots of votes. One of his blog sections is antifacism, the last article is a cut and paste from 2009, a committed anti-fascist indeed. Well done Stephen.

One of his tweets “If some idiot class warriors want to protest outside the count of first time Lib Dem candidates then I say bring it. #ProudLDFirstTimer” Which almost made us think he’s capable of holding his own, but then we read another of his tweets “I’m proud to be a first time Lib Dem candidate. #IAmSpartacus #ProudLDFirstTimer” and we just think he’s a twat.

Fantastic. The bastards have a lot to answer for

  11. Proud Libdem April 25, 2011 at 1:55 pm #50

You are disgusting and misrepresenting people all around the country who are working hard to in their communities. National politics and local politics are completely different its totally unfair to taint the efforts of these people with unconnceted national issues.

Theres a desperate need for more young people to be involved in local politics and this cheap and and nasty stunt is not going to help with that.

    Terrible

  12. Proud Libdem April 25, 2011 at 1:56 pm #51

I suppose you won’t moderate my comment. Cowards.

  13. Andy April 25, 2011 at 2:42 pm #52

Of course we’ll moderate your comment, in fact I’ve turned comment moderation off, fill your boots. I think you should give some thought to your name though.

National politics and local politics are completely different its totally unfair to taint the efforts of these people with unconnceted national issues.

Sounds to me that you’re ashamed of the association with the national party.

Pathetic but better than the more common and more dishonest claim that the Libdems are moderating Tory excess. You put a Libdem rosette on and you’ve made your bed. What were you lot doing in May last year? I’ll tell you what you were doing, you were canvassing on behalf of the national party, you were telling everyone how you agree with Nick. If you care about your local community then why choose to “taint” yourself with membership of a party that’s shafting every community in the country? Why not stand as an Independent?

As for your young people involved in politics comment you might just as well support BNP Youth because they get young people involved with politics.

    The lib dems are finished…
when they signed the pact with the dev.. i mean Tories that was the end for them. They are just as bad as the tories and Nick Clegg lost any shred of creditability he had when he sided with them and there policies

btw. The weasel picture you have on this post would make a great t-shirt… just a suggestion :)
